Who we are

Established in Mackay, Gibbs Air + Refrigeration delivers expert commercial air conditioning and refrigeration solutions across central Queensland. Led by Nathan Gibbs, bringing 20+ years of industry experience, we’ve built our business on quality workmanship, reliability and strong client relationships.

Our team of skilled technicians, project managers and support staff work together to deliver safe, compliant and dependable solutions across the commercial and industrial sectors. Building long-term partnerships with our clients, contractors and suppliers is central to how we operate.

Nathan Gibbs – Director

Nathan has worked in air conditioning and refrigeration for over 20 years, specialising in project management to deliver an end-to-end service for our clients. As well as being trained on the tools, Nathan is known for his open communication with both clients and staff – ensuring that everyone is on the same page, and that each project runs to time and budget.
Elise Gibbs – Business and Accounts Manager

While Nathan keeps client projects on track, Elise manages the business operations across all the accounting, HR and administration – including making sure that equipment is tested and tagged as needed and that all team members are following Workplace Healthy & Safety measures. Elise holds business qualifications and has worked in business administration and finance for more than a decade, helping to ensure that Gibbs Air runs as smoothly as possible for both our team and our clients.
Rick Larsen – Project Manager

Rick has worked in commercial air conditioning for over 40 years. A fully qualified refrigeration mechanic by trade, Rick has project managed mechanical services to a wide range of infrastructure work – including hospitals, aged care, childcare, retail, hospitality, tourism, justice, cinemas, education, airports, and specialised projects. Working across Queensland, New South Wales, and Western Australia and with a strong focus on safety, risk management, quality and project delivery, Rick is known for completing projects to the satisfaction of all stakeholders involved.
Jen Hughes - Administration

With two years at Gibbs Air and over 15 months in administration, Jen has become an essential part of the day-to-day operations. Jen first joined Gibbs Air as a trades assistant, helping with construction and servicing before stepping into an admin role as the business continued to grow.
Jen juggles everything from job bookings and parts ordering to asset management, accounts and the occasional on-site job. She’s also our go to barista and chef when the team needs a lift! And yes, Jen’s dog often comes along for the ride – unofficially holding the title of Gibbs Air’s Office Dog.
Nat Byrne - Refrigeration Mechanic

With 30 years in the refrigeration industry, Nat has built a career specialising in the service + maintenance of HVAC equipment. He’s supported by a strong set of qualifications, including a Certificate III in Mechanical Refrigeration Mechanics, Restricted Electrical Work and Refrigerant Handling licences.
Nat keeps systems running efficiently across industrial, construction and commercial sites, blending mechanical and electrical skills with attention to detail and strong customer service. Known for his reliability, problem-solving and commitment to mentoring the next generation, Nat values the positive environment at Gibbs Air and the variety the HVAC industry offers.
